Ti 6Al 4V ELI (Ti 6-4 ELI)

Ti 6AL 4V ELI, also known as Ti 6-4 ELI, is a titanium alloy comprised mostly of titanium – up to 91% and contains 6% aluminum (Al) and 4% of Vanadium (V). In this case, ELI stands for Extra Low Interstitials, and this classification of Ti 6-4 is considered to be purer than normal Ti 6-4. While the two titanium alloys are similar, Ti 6-4 ELI differs in that it is comprised with less oxygen (O), with the maximum amount capped off 0.13%. The oxygen amount in standard Ti 6-4 typically caps out at 2.0%. Ti 6-4 ELI also contains less iron (Fe) and Carbon (C).

Ti 6-4 ELI forged parts have better overall toughness and greater ductility compared to parts forged in Ti 6-4. Additionally, Ti 6-4 ELI has excellent strength and high resistance to corrosive elements. Because of these traits, Ti 6-4 ELI is one of the most sought-after titanium alloys, and parts forged in this alloy are used in many different industrial applications.
