A-286 Superalloy

A-286 is an iron-based superalloy that shares many similar characteristics with stainless steel alloys. Besides iron (Fe), other elements that makeup A-286 are, nickel (Ni) (24.0% – 27.0%) and chromium (Cr) (13.5% – 16.0%), along with trace amounts of titanium (Ti), aluminum (Al), vanadium (V), and others.

This alloy is age-hardenable to ensure high yield strength and resistance to corrosive elements, including saltwater and high temperatures. Because of these traits, A-286 forged parts are commonly used for aerospace and power generation sectors, among others.

The UNS code for A-286 is S66286.
